Baby Seal Breaks Into House
This seems like one of those really cute story but it actually reminds me of a time Me and a couple buddies found a baby seal on the beach after a Body surfing session down at Dockweiler state beach. She/he had wondered onto the sand and was just lying in the sun needless to say causing quiet a commotion with everyone on the beach and of course everyone wanted to touch her. The life guard came round just in time to stop that from happening. It turns out there had been an excessive amount of bacteria from runoff in the water causing the poor little bugger to lose her bearings and swim up onto the beach. She was placed in the back of the life guard vehicles and taken to the wild animal shelter. she was one of the lucky ones if you want to put it that way! So it sounds like a Cute enough story that this little one in New Zealand was found on a couch but in reality it is very sad and she is the victim of what we are doing to our environment.
It isn't just the sea life that is being affected either. Due to a broken arm I had not been for a surf for some time. I say this because it means my immunity to the water is down. Sunday I decided my wrist was feeling up to it and I ventured out, came home and spent the next 2 days confined to my bed with the worst stomach flu I have ever had . Now I can't prove for certain it was the water in the Santa Monica bay but I later learned the water had a D rating (fyi.. according to authorities okay to swim in, go figure) . Also that has not been the first time the water at that exact spot has done that to me when I first arrived in Los Angeles I surfed there and I spent a week in bed with flu. For someone who doesn't get sick at anything and managed to travel through southeast Asia without getting even so much as a cough I find it compelling evidence that something needs to be done. Because not going surfing ,hand boarding ,bodysurfing, SUP'ing is not an option as im sure you will agree. We need to start finding other ways to limit our impact
So go join some of the great organizations doing an amzing job in trying to limit what impact we have on our oceans and land.
