Conscious Capitalism: A view from TOM's shoes and GOOD magazine
We tend to post mostly surfing body, surfing, Handboarding, environmental or Venice centric issues on our blog, It is really a microhsm of who we are and what we stand for and little insight into the things we do and enjoy. Sometimes it strays a little from what our core issues are. This is I suppose one of those times. I guess we could categorize this Post in Venice companies and the environment or perhaps social issues.
However it has more to do with business and more importantly a business model we at Slyde are working hard to achieve so in that respect it's a little different . it may actually have more to do with Slyde than you may think. What you see on the surface of Slyde Handboards is very much the tip of the iceberg so to speak. We are and always have been entrenched in creating a community and social conscious around us. Building a company people want to be involved in, Whether it be Here in the united states or elsewhere.
For example at the Moment my Brother, Paul is looking to work with Zulu Woman in our Hometown to Knit a selection of Beanies for next winter The hope is to empower them to create their own small supply chain. We are also actively seeking ways to help enrich our own community here in Venice Beach. We have started our Board art Program: In short we are giving our Handboards out to local Artists to use as a canvas for their creativity. It is about finding creative ways to not only help yourself but those around us.
This video Is long at nearly an hour but it is very empowering and motivating and both TOM'S shoes and GOOD magazine are great examples of where I think we need to be heading. Like conscious Capitalism. It is not about the end product but the way we get there and the people involved. I give Credit to My flat mate Brendon For forwarding me this Video, It always makes me happy when people like him send me stuff because they realize not only how important this company is to me but also he understands where we are trying to head. Thanks for the support Bro.
