"With Body Surfing you don't take anything for granted! You ride the wave as far as you can, you don't kick out because the barrel stopped. You realize how much room there is out there, even with all the people." Kelly Slater

"We as a species are connected to the ocean. All living thing come from the ocean. Body Surfing is a chance to get back to your roots, It's the ability to feel the energy." Laird Hamilton

The Annual Surfrider volunteer appreciation night

The surfrider volunteer appreciation day/night on Dockweiler beach on Saturday was an absolute success! Many thanks to Angel ,our friendly Surfrider organizer for organizing the entire event. she did an amazing job (enjoy the North shore Angel). Slyde Handboards gave away a handboard to the group that picked up the most trash on the beach that day and there was great excitement when they received their shiny new Flame head handboard/handplane. Hopefully we have some budding bodysurfing champions. They will have to fight for the board as It was a group of Five ,good luck with that!

If it looks cold it was but with the bomb fires blazing everyone gathered around and became old friend and warm while roasting marshmallows and making smors (ohh hell yeah). This is the first time I have spent an evening around the bomb fire pits at Dockweiler. I have heard some bad stories about how crowded it gets at times and generally stayed away, but this night was perfect and we all had an amazing time. I recommend heading down there with some buddies to watch the sundown and sit around the Bombfire

of course after a session of surfing/bodysurfing before hand and a warm up round the bomb fire. Can you think of anything better to do?
