DaFin Bodysurfing Fins Making Their Slyde Debut

DaFins: The Perfect Bodysurfing Fin

As this is being written, we eagerly await the arrival of the new member to the Slyde team. A short, sleek little gem that comes in a unique colorway, and makes you move through the water with the poise and balance of some kind of Darwin-inspired mermaid type deal, but with a hairy chest and gut.

But by God, the girls love you when you emerge from the murky depths after bodysurfing down the face of that 6 foot wedge in an epic show of brute force and beauty...... Ok that just got a bit out of hand!

As you can see, we are excited to introduce our newest offering in the bodysurf fins, DaFin.

DaFin: The Fin

The DaFin range is something I have personally been very excited to stock from the first time I tried them. Pedro of the Huntington Beach Lifeguardsintroduced me to them after they were sponsored by DaFin. The most exciting aspect about DaFin is that they are designed specifically for the bodysurfer and swimmer. Other fins have been designed and developed for bodyboards, but DaFin fins are primarily for use as a bodysurfer.

We will be doing a full review on them in the very near future, but for now, this is simply a welcome mat to Slyde's new partnership with DaFin.

A bit of backstory on the fins for anyone who is interested:

DaFin is the only swim fin I use both professionally and recreationally. Power and comfort are the two utmost things I need in a pair of fins. DaFin delivers on both and more. DaFin was developed in Hawaii after a lot of product testing and design input from legendary bodysurfers Mark Cunningham and Brian Keaulana.

From the Company:

DaFin combines unparalleled comfort with exacting construction to create a swim fin that performs under the most extreme conditions.

The side rails --- the “strakes”--- on DaFins are rock solid but run only about halfway down the length of the fin where they angle back to the blade. This forces the fin to flex right at this critical point. The raised v-shaped foot pocket combined with a stiff blade working together at the point of flex creates  maximum acceleration of the water flowing over the fin surface resulting in more thrust per kick with less effort. For such a powerful fin, it is unusually light in weight. DaFins float in the ocean and there is no right or left foot difference so DaFins can be worn on either foot.

Dafins are light and most of all, very comfortable and allow for a longer time frame in the water.  This allows you to enjoy your session in comfort. DaFins are the #1 choice for lifeguards and bodysurfers and watermen around the globe.
