Boardwell custom art handboards
The Slyde Boardwell Collaboration
The Slyde team recently teamed up with the Courtney Branch and Lindsay Carron, the brains behind Boardwell. It was a fortuitous meeting at the art store on Santa Monica Main street that led us to work together. Boardwell will be using The Slyde Handboards as their canvas to showcase their next offering of surf inspired art.
About Board well
MISSION:
To use art as a platform for change.
FACE IT:
our world has problems…lot’s of them. The good news is that there are thousands of existing organizations seeking solutions to those problems. Board Well partners with influential non profits to create sustainable change. With every custom art board purchased, proceeds are donated to organizations, such as Wishing Well, improving lives throughout the world. We help you help them.
VISION:
We believe the artwork we create should not only be visually enticing, but also serve a greater purpose. Creating is an outlet for physical and mental release, just as surfing, skateboarding, and snowboarding. We invite you to breathe deeper, see clearer, and release fully, knowing that the board you are riding is helping another receive food, clean water, a job, comfort, and care.
STORY:
The sun had barely risen the September morning that Courtney Branch and Lindsay Carron found themselves on the Venice Beach Boardwalk in Southern California toting alpaca blankets, paint, coffee, and wooden surfboard creations. Their goal: to blast the Labor Day weekend tourist crowd with their ingenious idea of making beautiful art on the California-idolized symbol of a surfboard. From 5 AM to 7 PM when the last of the freshly sun-kissed visitors toted Boardwalk purchases back to their rental cars, the girls sold surfboards, took custom orders, and envisioned their very first concept of Custom Boards by Lindsay and Courtney. Yet, learning the stories of the homeless teenagers selling feather earrings and the tortoise sculptor supporting a family of five on Boardwalk earnings inspired the girls to take the idea further. Custom Boards became Board Well, an initiative to partner with nonprofit organizations and create change through each painted creation. A new-found appreciation for what art can do has been born!
LIVE WELL. CARE WELL. BOARD WELL.
