"With Body Surfing you don't take anything for granted! You ride the wave as far as you can, you don't kick out because the barrel stopped. You realize how much room there is out there, even with all the people." Kelly Slater

"We as a species are connected to the ocean. All living thing come from the ocean. Body Surfing is a chance to get back to your roots, It's the ability to feel the energy." Laird Hamilton

Committed to a Cleaner Ocean

Slyde Handboards® is committed to causing the least amount of damage to our environment during the manufacturing of our Handboards. We are active volunteers and support the Surfrider Foundation. Our company and team strive on a personal level to keep our beaches and oceans clean. It drives me insane when I paddle or body surf through the water and come up with a plastic bag, or a piece of shit floats past you while I'm having a peaceful body surf it should be water not plastic!

Keep an eye out for your local beach clean-ups. We are currently researching various ways of limiting our impact, including working with green foam blanks to create post consumer recycled Handboards. We are aware of the surf manufacturing industry’s impact on the environment and are dedicated to be part of the solution and not the problem.

We are also currently pursuing various options to have our old and used boards reused as other products. Our ultimate goal is to produce a greener board and reduce, if not completely wipe out our carbon footprint while maintaining a top of the line quality that gives our riders long lasting satisfaction.

Below are some links to our favorite organizations that we either like to get down and dirty with, or just want to give them a big inter-web hug. So please help us support them! They do an amazing job of championing the cause for cleaner everything. Because its not gonna clean itself!!

Above is a Beach cleanup that Slyde Handboards helped out with. The clean up went from the Venice pier all the way down to Navy street. There was over 150 pounds of trash collected off of the beach.

We found all sorts of crap from shoes to half a wetsuit. This particular weekend saw Surfrider team up with Heal the Bay and to produce one of the biggest inland and beach cleanups in history. These Beach cleanups are great fun and definitely worth coming down and helping out, and you can do a good thing for your environment.
